Whether you are new to oil painting or looking for a refresher course and new tips, this class is for you!

Your instructor Linda Mackey Lang brings 50 years of oil painting experience.

 

You will begin with the basics. Linda's mentor (and who she worked as a studio assistant to) Doris McCarthy used to say "if you have a good composotion, you have a good painting. But, without a good composition, you can never get a good painting." With that in mind, we will begin with what makes a good composition. From there, we will learn how to best convey the story you want your painting to tell and how to create a focal point through composition, value, and colours.

Students will learn in-depth colour mixing, brush strokes, and demonstrations to create skies, trees, water, rocks, and snow. Several smaller paintings will be created while students learn and practice a variety of skills.
